3 tips to planning your post-pandemic routine

Welcome back to the life you left behind in March 2020. That’s how it may feel for many people as they start to come out of quarantine after getting vaccinated. When you live your life getting grocery delivery and taking Zoom calls for so long, it’s easy to forget how important a daily routine is. Routines create a structure for our days and give us a sense of accomplishment. They also can show us if we are doing well and let others know how we are doing.

Even if you had a great routine in the past, it might be hard to get back on track. Here are some tips to help you plan a post-pandemic daily routine.

1 – Time for better sleep

What happened to your sleep schedule during the past year? Did you binge-watch all your favorite Netflix shows well into the early morning because you didn’t have to be up early to catch the subway or bus anymore?

If you weren’t getting healthy sleep, the post-pandemic period is an excellent time to start over. Try getting to bed early and wake up at the same time every day.

2 – Reclaim your morning

Now is the time to review how things have changed in the past year. A good place to start is your morning. Does your morning routine lack focus since you’ve been home? Have you picked up more positive habits, like cooking a healthy breakfast every morning because you have more time?

Now it is great time to look at what’s changed since the last time you worked in the office. If you are working in a hybrid arrangement, you might need two routines.

3 – Make small changes

Though you might be tempted to make big changes, it’s better to start small. The odds say you’ll have a better chance for success if you take detailed goals and make them small and specific. By making small goals that are easier to reach, the more likely you are to do them.
