The best businesses for commuters
Do you wish you could find the best workplaces for commuters? Then look no further than the yearly Best Workplaces for Commuters list.
The BWC recently published its 2021 list of companies in the United States who meet the criteria by providing exceptional commuter benefits to employees.
For 2021, the BWC named more than 450 workplaces to the list. That’s up from 2020, when more than 330 were named to the list.
With many companies moving to remote working environments during the COVID-19 pandemic, the BWC also included remote work as a key employee commuter benefit to offer.
How to qualify
For businesses to qualify for the Best Workplaces for Commuters list, the employer must be committed to employees by offering “progressive” commuter programs. Those offerings could include telework, transit passes, amenities for bicyclists, and rideshares.
The BWC highlights how offering those types of benefits to commuters allows companies to recruit and retain the best talent and be good stewards of the environment.
The BWC’s list is a diverse group of companies and municipalities throughout the United States. Harvard University is one of many colleges on the list and has long been a champion of commuter benefits. We at Edenred Commuter Benefits also made the list again and are happy to say we practice what we preach, even during the pandemic. There were numerous cities of all sizes, including Cary, N.C., and Austin, Texas.
Helping employees
One way businesses can cover commuting needs is through a commuter benefits package. Commuter benefits let employees save up to $270 per month tax-free in their paychecks. The employees can use the money to pay for rideshares, mass transit and qualified parking. And if you have employees interested in micromobility transportation, there are programs available for e-bikes, e-scooters and more.
Commuter benefits also benefit employers. Businesses can save up to $40 per employee per month on payroll taxes.
Do you want to make the BWC list for 2022? A great place to start is by offering your employees a commuter benefits package that helps save them money on commuting costs. You can find more information on our programs at www.communterbenefits.com.
